Steven Joseph Akstulewicz, 68, passed away on November 20, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada, as a result of a rare complication from open heart surgery.
Steve was born on December 16, 1954, in Neenah, Wisconsin, to parents Gwen (Andersen) and Julian Akstulewicz. Steve graduated from high school in 1973 from Menasha Senior High School in Menasha, Wisconsin. He enlisted in the U.S. Army upon graduation, where he proudly served our country for 12 years at various duty stations in the United States, as well as Thailand and Germany. After discharge from the Army, Steve moved to Reno, Nevada before settling in Las Vegas.
Steve was a casino floor manager in Las Vegas before finding his niche in security services, where he earned numerous awards and accolades. Prior to retiring nearly three years ago, Steve worked in security services for Swift Transportation. Steve was fully enjoying retirement. He loved cheering for the Las Vegas sports teams, especially the Vegas Golden Knights, the Las Vegas Aces, and the Las Vegas Raiders. But he was always faithful to his home state teams of the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers! He also enjoyed a good game of poker. Steve will be remembered for his sense of humor and his kind heart!
Steve is survived by his sister, Ellen Rodgers of Kerrville, TX, and Janet (Steve) Abrams of Mesquite, NV, as well as nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Paul Akstulewicz, and his brother-in-law Jackey Ray Rodgers.
Steve's ashes will be laid to rest at a later date at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, Wisconsin, where his mother, father, and brother, all of whom were proud veterans of the U.S. Army, are also buried.
