In Loving Memory of Murray J. Birdman
1937 ~ 2019

Murray Joseph Birdman, age 82, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on
November 14, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada from complications of Alzheimer’s.
He was born in Philadelphia to Minnie and Martin Birdman on June 28, 1937.

He attended Furness Jr High and graduated from
South Philadelphia High School. After graduation he enrolled in
Temple University and graduated from the school of
Dentistry with a Doctorate of Dental Science, DDS.

Following graduation from Temple he entered the United States Air Force as an Officer of Medical Service.
He served as an oral surgeon in the Air Force for 22 years and retired with Full Honors as a Full Bird Colonel.
During his service he continued his education. He successfully completed Air Command and Staff College in
March of 1974 and Industrial College of the Armed Forces in May of 1974.
He also completed his Dental Staff Officer Course in October of 1974.
He graduated from Air War College in March 1978.
He was a decorated veteran and accomplished surgeon
who served his country at home and abroad.

While serving in Southeast Asia he met his surviving wife Darleen.
Together they followed his service assignments from Japan to Las Vegas,
and to Germany, New Jersey, and California.
Following his retirement they returned to Las Vegas,
Nevada where they began their civilian life in 1984.

After his retirement, Murray returned to college where he pursued a Master’s Degree in
Fine Art and Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Finding it time for a new vocation, he obtained his real estate certification and began a second,
successful career as a real estate agent in Las Vegas.

He loved musical theater and the UNLV Running Rebels basketball team.
He also enjoyed keeping contact with his fellow South Philadelphia alumni
and returning for class reunions.

Murray is survived by his wife, Darleen,
and his children: Deborah, Jeffery, and Jodie.

He is also survived by grandchildren
Brian, Scot, Christopher, and Bella, and
his sister Roberta Edwards.


Services by his family will be held at the
Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
