Jean McClain

Jean McClain passed away 7/26/2022.  Born October 22 1928, she was the first of five children born to Joe and Rosa Combs.

Preceded in death by her parents a beloved daughter Kelly and brother Doug Combs.

She is survived by husband John, brother and sister in law Harold and Sally Combs of Algonquin Illinois; sisters Peggy Matarazzo and Rhonda Cummings of Forest City Arkansas and several nieces and nephews including Erik Padua and Zachary Padua.

Jean moved from Illinois to California where she met and married her husband.

They moved to Las Vegas shortly after their marrage in 1961.

During her working years she was employed by banks in Illinois, California and Nevada, where she was the first woman to serve as a mortgage loan officer for a local bank. After their daughter's birth she took several years off and then returned to the working force as an office manager for a local woman's boutique (Jack Slotes Womens Apparel) until it closed in the early 1980's. Later she worked for a local real estate office in the relocation department until she retired.

Always involved in the community she belonged to several clubs and organizations including serving as president of the PTA, Emblem club #427 a local unit of N.A.P. She was a 25 year member of credit professionals int, where she was a 3 time receipient of "credit professional of the year", and also was the first woman to serve as president from the State of Nevada.

She was also a member of the Mesquite Club, but her greatest involvment after retirement was with the First Presbyterian Church where she was a devoted member and an ordained elder,and often served on committies both locally and with the Nevada Prebytery, and Synod of Pacific.

Burial will be private. A memorial service will be at FPC----------------.
