Janice Dey

Janice Claire “Jan” (Hatcher) Dey, born July 10, 1936 in New Jersey, passed away at age 88 on August 1, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

She is the 5th of 6 children born to Frank Hatcher and Clara (Silbert), survived by her youngest sister Carol. 

Jan was married to Dale Bruce “Bruce” Dey (1935-1998) on November 9, 1956. They welcomed daughter Sherri Denise on October 28, 1960, and then welcomed their second daughter, Diana Rachelle on May 28, 1965. 

Jan valued her loved ones above all; being a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend were some of her greatest achievements. Caregiving was second nature to her, from hosting cozy holidays and classy yet modest occasions to nurturing people, plants and pets. Jan’s grace, determination and strength were evident in everything she did. She survived breast cancer twice and was in full remission for over 20 years. 

She experienced a severe stroke in May; fighting valiantly, facing other complications over the course of three months and eventually surrendering with her two daughters by her side. 

Jan's kind, beautiful and loyal soul will live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Sherry (Bill), Megan (Tyler), Diana (John), Johnny (Kaitlyn and Lilith) Dakoda (Cecilia, Slayder, Sophia, Holden and Hollie), Veronica (Joey and Bruce), extended family and many friends.
